But
come Tuesday morning, he wore a simple gray suit that looked off-the-rack and
traded the rocks on his watch for a plain black plastic one as he appeared in
Manhattan Supreme Court to testify about his alleged bankruptcy. He told the
court that his fancy cars featured in his music videos were all rentals and
that the bling he was seen rocking was borrowed from a jeweler.
Curtis
Jackson, his real name, filed for bankruptcy in Connecticut last week in an
attempt to stall a lawsuit payout. The jury is weighing how much the
40-year-old will be ordered to pay sex-tape victim Lastonia Leviston, according
to the New York Post.
Jackson
revealed he only owns three gold chains and that his plastic watch is a Casio
G-Shock.
During
his testimony, Jackson said he was worried that his "brand" had been
tarnished since the bankruptcy filing last week, saying,
"Now that I filed for bankruptcy, I’m not as cool as I was last week." He however, managed to say a minor apology to Lastonia Leviston, who was awarded $5 million after he allegedly published a sex tape in which she is featured without her consent: "I'm sorry if you feel like I hurt you."
