Europe: 1,500 Hungry migrants attacked by police in Kos in a violent encounter

Violence erupted when 1,500 migrants put up a strong sit-in at a football stadium demanding food, shelter and registration. The police attacked the refugees with batons and fire extinguishers. Fights broke out among migrants on the Greek island of Kos this morning, with police officers forced to spray crowds with fire extinguishers in a desperate effort to get them to disperse. This happened during a registration procedure which was taking place at the stadium of Kos town, on the south east of the island.
