Writing to the Advisor to ask for a Letter of Recommendation
Dear…..,

My name is…..., and I hereby make a request to you to kindly write me a letter of recommendation for my transfer. I wish to leave my present Business-Finance major for a Math & Economics major, and as I began to think of a letter of recommendation, I thought of you. I will attach copies of my documents for your perusal upon your request.

I need your support in this process, especially when you will be writing my evaluation report as part of the application process. I strongly feel transferring from a  Business-Finance major to a Math & Economics major will give me an opportunity to bring the best out of me as the latter imposes a lot more challenges compared to the former. For instance, the business program, which I am in, integrates very little from other disciplines, which I feel are very relevant and important such as math, hard sciences, and social sciences. I believe these subjects are core and will help me in having a successful career.

I would be in a position to broadly yet in a focused perspective address and tackle issues regarding “food security”, “resource scarcity”, and “sustainability” among others. I would also be in a position to develop investment themes based on sustainable solutions that achieve attractive returns and establish platforms that have a large and lasting impact on the business sector and growing economy. This is a required pathway to political stability that is socially responsible and economically sustainable.

I understand you have a busy program; thus, I would be incredibly grateful if you find time to write for me this recommendation and I, in advance, express gratitude. Maybe I have not expressed my appreciation enough in class, but your inspiring words and belief is what has kept my dreams on careers alive, and for that, I sincerely appreciate.

Sincerely,

……………
